Pizza makes me happy. Bread makes me happy.
Pizza bread makes me wet myself with excitement.
That’s right, it does. And today I’m going to show you how to make the best pizza bread in the whole wide world. And it doesn’t take that long at all.
Now I must warn you that this is addictive and it’s amazing and your friends and family will try to bully you into giving them the recipe, but if you want to pretend it was your creation and keep it to yourself then I’m fine with that. Our little secret. Promise.
So we’re going to start off pretty basic with some pizza dough.
Ingredients:
300g Plain Flour
700g Bread Flour
60g Olive Oil
650ml Water
14g Fresh Yeast (7g Dry Yeast)
10g Salt
1// Pop the two flours and the salt into a bowl and mix it around a little bit.
2// Crumble your fresh yeast into the flour or add your activated dry yeast to the mixture.
3// Add the olive oil and the water and mix it all together. It should start to form a dough. You can hand knead this for 10 – 15 minutes or 5 minutes in the electric mixer with a dough hook.
4// Cover the bowl with cling film and leave somewhere warm for 1 hour.
Now we’re going to make the bread part.
Are you excited yet?
Weigh out your dough (I used 700g) and then split it into three. Roll into long ropes of dough that are roughly the same length.
You now need to plait the strands together. You can see how to do this in my YouTube tutorial or follow the photos (they’re not as clear as the video, sorry about that but I had my hands full actually plaiting).
Oil a bread tin with olive oil and then pop your plait into the tin. Put it somewhere warm for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Spread more olive oil, salt and pepper on top of the bread and pop into an oven at 200 degrees C for 20 minutes. It’s that simple people. When the bread comes out of the oven, you can also brush the top with a mixture of butter and garlic if you want a garlic bread effect.
Serve this with dips, spread or just plain olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
